How To: Make Slime with a Bath Bomb
Ok. We have done it! We’ve made slime using some of our favorite bath bombs! With all of the hype around slime, we couldn’t just sit back and let the internet keep making slime using similar active ingredients to our beloved bath bombs. We have created a new sensory fun twist on regular slime. Jump in and try it out!
First, we were curious about the history of this tactile project. A little digging and we found out that slime has been around for a long time. Much longer than we expected (we thought Nickelodeon created it lol)! In the early 20th century the science behind slime was discovered. In 1957 Silly Putty became extremely popular. Shortly after in 1976, Mattel Toy Company introduced slime in a small plastic “trash can”. However, slime improved immensely through the 21st century. In 2016 it became very popular, and a slime craze scattered across kids and teens. Several videos of teenagers from Thailand making slime reached social media, causing this craze. Fast forward to 2024, our bath bomb company decided it was time to try our theory of using a bath bomb as the active ingredient in slime making. The outcome is fluffy, stretchy, and has a texture you’ve never seen. Anyway, we aren’t going to gate keep this amazing slime. Now, we have mastered we will share the process with you. Everyone should get to see just how fluffy and soft this slime is.
Here’s our 10 step process on how to make the bath bomb slime:
Step 1: Gather all your ingredients. You will need 2 plastic bowls, a measuring cup, 8oz bottle of clear Elmer’s glue, 10oz bottle of contact solution, a Hi Peach Layne bath bomb of your choice, warm water, and 36gm bag of instant snow. You’ll see to the left we have a picture of our main ingredients. We chose to use our 1oz blue bath bomb from our 8 CT Mini Bath Bomb Bag.
Step 2: Grab a bowl, about the size of your favorite popcorn bowl, and add warm water. Pick your desired bath bomb (hint: the color slime will be about the same color water the bath bomb becomes – see blue slime to the left), remove the plastic from the bath bomb and cut 1/4 of the bath bomb off. Scissors make it the easiest, with the help of an adult. Set the 1/4 bath bomb aside and the remaining 3/4 of the bath bomb to the bowl with warm water. Allow the bath bomb to dissolve.
Step 3: In a separate bowl add 1/2 a cup of clear Elmer’s glue. In a third bowl add 1 and 2/3 tbsp(5 teaspoons) of bath bomb water with 1 and 1/3 tbs of instant snow. Then, set the instant snow bowl aside for later.
Step 4: Get 1 tbs of bath bomb water and add to the bowl with clear glue. Grab the 1/4 bath bomb and grade it into powder. Add the powder to the bowl with glue. Mix until it turns into a solid color.
Step 5: Add all the instant snow into the glue bowl and mix again. Open the contact solution and gradually pour it in the glue container and mix, about 2.5 oz. Repeat this process for about 2-3 minutes.
Step 6: Let the slime mixture sit in the bowl for 30 minutes. The slime will begin to form bubbles at the surface, this is supposed to happen. After 30 minutes pick the slime up and try to knead it. It should begin to form a slime-like surface.
Step 7: If it’s still sticky add more contact solution and put back in the container for another 30 minutes. This allows the bottom to turn into a slime substance just like the top. After 30 minutes get the slime out.
Step 8: Begin to play with the slime! We recommend you add lotion, but this is optional. You can also add additional things you might want; such as glitter or charms!!!
Step 9: Play with your slime for desired time. Once finished playing with slime, add to an airtight container and seal.
Step 10: Enjoy!
