While the "fragrance wheel" was first created over 80 years ago by a perfumer, Paul Jellinek, it has evolved to help humans category and make sense of the way we perceive smell. There are many interpretations of the wheel and usually are tailored to a specific industry or classification. Oftentimes when we discuss fragrances we feel like a mad scientist or a sommelier wine expert.
You'll see above there are 9 sections to the Hi Peach Layne Fragrance wheel: Citrus, Fresh, Fruity, Floral, Gourmand, Spice, Woody, Fougere and Amber. We have customized this wheel to reflect our fragrances as it relates to our bath bomb world and only chose subcategories to each fragrance section as it relates to harmonizing notes of the bath.
We all know the smell of a fresh cut orange, lemon, or lime. The base of the citrus fragrance note is the fresh citrus notes of these citrus fruits.
The smell of clean laundry or cleanliness? Often fresh fragrances pair with clean nature notes - to remind you of fresh flowers, the ocean, or a clean green grass. Usually freshness is rounded out with a bright note.
For the traditional fruity scents, just think of your favorites in the fruit bowl split wide open. For tropical fragrances, these are more bright with a distinct aroma that make them unique to many places near the equator.
Floral fragrances are notes from flowers. These natural blossom scents are usually paired with other neighbors on the fragrance wheel to evoke a more robust floral fragrance.
This is a fancy French word. Our interpretation of this word is "pastry shop". Although this might not be the most sophisticated, it is the most accurate in our book. Because (if you're not allergic) who doesn't love a fresh baked chocolate croissant ?
Cinnamon? Nutmeg? Ginger? Any note in a fragrance that brings you to think of a spice or one that is warm with intense notes is usually a spicy fragrance. This year, we aren't feeling very spicy. No bath bombs with this note.
Usually warm and lavish fragrances that tend to be earthy and sometimes sweet. Often woody notes are paired with fresh or aromatic (think lavender) to offset the heaviness of the woodsy tones. This usually give the woody fragrance a light or bright air to it.
Another fancy french word for "Fern" or we like to sometimes call it "Forest Moss". In our opinion, this is a green grass scent that is usually paired with another fragrance family to make it beautiful. We don't see an opportunity to use this family in the bath often. But you never know!
Welcome to the Amber fragrance: warm, sensual, rich, powdery, inviting and sweet. It is one of the most luxurious fragrance sections - not determined by us but by the price tag on many amber categorized perfumes.
Here at Hi Peach Layne, we believe that the bath bomb should not only be an experience for your skin in the bath tub. We believe your whole bathroom should radiate the fragrance of your bath bomb fragrance choice.
Creating bath bomb assortments designed to give you the best choice of fragrances that pair well with the bath tub is our mission. Each fragrance above was hand selected by our team with help from a perfumist to ensure we would offer our customer the best scents while respecting the widest of fragrance preferences.
Don't believe us? Grab one and smell it yourself. Then imagine that scent released 10x as strong in your bathroom while you relax in the bath.
